New · Palm Liveness

One open hand. One clear answer.

Palm Liveness is a hand check for your verification flows. A few seconds of hand movement tell a live person from automation, without asking who that person is. And it learns with every use.

Hand check complete

The question

Software can now click, type and scroll, just like a person.

So when someone signs up, how do you know a person is really there? Palm Liveness answers that one question, with a few seconds of hand movement.

The video

Palm Liveness in a minute and a half.

01 / 05

The hand check

Hold up an open hand, follow a few dots across the screen, then touch thumb and index finger together. It takes a few seconds, in the browser, with the device's camera.

  1. 1

    Hold up an open hand

The camera finds one open hand.

  2. 2

    Follow the dots

Move the hand to each dot on the screen, in order.

  3. 3

    Touch thumb and index finger

A short pinch completes the check.

Every challenge is new, and valid only once.

The dots are placed anew for every attempt. A challenge expires after a short time and can be used once; the next attempt gets a new one.

It doesn't ask who you are.

No name, no document, no face match. Palm Liveness answers a question about the session, not about the person: is a live person here, right now?

  • It does not identify anyone
  • It does not compare faces
  • Where identity matters, combine it with document reading, liveness and face match

What the hand check asks

one question
  • Name not asked
  • Identity document not asked
  • Face match not asked
  • Is a live person here, right now? asked

Palm Liveness learns, with every use.

It is more than a single check of a single attempt. When the model is confident, it decides. When it is not, it doesn't guess: a person reviews the case, their decision is added to the training data, and the model is retrained on the motion.

The loop below shows the mechanism, not data: which cases a person reviews and how their decisions flow back into the model.

Illustration of the mechanism
01

The model decides

When the model is confident, it decides: a live person, or automation.
02

A person reviews

When it is not, it doesn't guess. A person reviews the case.HumanAutomatedUnclear
03

Added to the training data

The reviewer's decision is added to the training data, with the motion it belongs to.
04

Retrained on the motion

The model is retrained on the motion. So every uncertain case makes the next decision sharper.

04 / 05

Every uncertain case makes the next decision sharper.

And as automation changes, the check keeps learning with it.

In your verification flow

Add it to any verification flow of the Identivero verification platform: on its own, or alongside document and selfie checks. Under your brand.

  • On its own, where you need to know that a live person is there
  • Alongside document reading, liveness and face match
  • In the web flow under your own brand, like every other step
